Internal Family Systems Therapy

“I am large, I contain multitudes.” –Walt Whitman, American humanist & writer

Everyone has different ‘parts’, or aspects, of themselves that live inside of them. These parts get expressed depending on a given situation, and are often influenced by external dynamics-be it family and other social relationships-that he/she most often interacts with. When a child for instance cannot stop a certain (maladaptive) behavior at school or at home, it is important to understand how that behavior came to be and what it needs in order to help him/her make healthier changes. Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy helps to guide him/her to make that change with self compassion. In IFS, all parts are welcome.
